What are Operators?

An operator is a method of packaging, deploying, and managing a Kubernetes application with day 1 and day 2 automation. An operator takes human operational knowledge and encodes it into software applications to provide a simple user experience that automates complex tasks.

Quick Install

As with Red Hat OpenShift, customers use Kubernetes operators to run applications autonomously allowing for simpler installation, robust updates, and much more.

Scalable

Kubernetes Operators can manage and scale both stateful and stateless application without requiring any additional knowledge about how these applications operate.

Operator Framework

The Operator Framework is an open source project that provides developer and runtime Kubernetes tools, enabling you to accelerate the development of an operator.

The benefits of Red Hat OpenShift Operator Certification

OpenShift Certified Operators are simpler to deploy and manage. They are tested to avoid interoperability issues or security risks, and are jointly supported by Red Hat and our partners. For our customers, this provides agility, simplicity and reliability in deploying applications, improving time-to-value, by using components that have been pre-tested on OpenShift.
